Bring young people into your business at no cost

We'll make it easy for you...

Take young people on Kickstart placements and:

  • boost capacity in your business at no cost
  • test their skills with a view to an apprenticeship or full-time job when you can afford them
  • contribute to the reboot of the Lincolnshire economy
  • help young people who will have a much tougher time than we did into employment.

Lincoln College is working in partnership with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) as an official Kickstart Gateway.

We’re here to help you recruit and train young people on work placements for your business.

What is kickstart?

It’s a government scheme to boost youth employment. The government pays the national minimum wage for 16 to 24-year-olds to work in your business for 6 months. You can take up to 29 at any one time.

Who can take placements?

Employers of all sizes can apply for funding which covers:

What is the deadline?

Employers can spread the start date of the job placements up until the end of December 2021

What will Lincoln College do for me?

  • We will write and submit your application
  • We’ll help you with your placement adverts and we’ll send them to the DWP for them. They’ll match them against their database of jobseekers and find suitable candidates
  • We’ll put your candidate through a Pre-employment Course at Lincoln College to make sure they have the right attitude and basic skills when they join you
  • We’ll continue to offer training throughout their placement
  • After five months, if you don’t want to offer the young person a job, we’ll start working with them on job seeking skills and careers guidance to support them into the workplace elsewhere.

Essentially, we do all the difficult stuff so you can focus on embedding your placement candidates into your business.

Why wouldn’t you do this?
